Yesterday, Governor Phil Murphy signed into law as P.L.2022, c.139, NJBA’s legislative priority reforming building code inspections. NJBA President Tom Bovino, NJBA CEO Jeff Kolakowski and Past President Corey Wescoe, who spearheaded this reform during his presidency, were on hand at the public bill signing in Elizabeth, NJ. NJBA worked closely with the Governor’s staff, legislative leadership and a coalition of industry groups to carefully craft this solution that would, among other things, permit applicants to utilize a private inspection firm in the event that a municipality cannot fulfill its obligations of providing inspections within three days.
